"The Cost of a Christ Centered Life"
Luke 14:25-35
The Cost of Discipleship

I.    Huge crowds followed Jesus and He challenged them.                (V 25)
    *    Jesus could not and will not have second best.

    *    Jesus would not and will not accept any place other than first place in a
        man's life.

*    Jesus makes it clear what it meant and what it means and what it will cost to be His disciple.

II.    A man must put Christ first: 
Before family and even before himself.                    (V 26)


III.    A man must bear the cross of death: 
Death to self.                                    (V 27)


IV.    A man must give thought to discipleship: 
Count the cost and the consequences.                        (Vs. 28-33)
    Illustration 1:    A builder must count his resources.

    Illustration 2:    A King at war - must count the consequences.


V.    A man must have the salt of discipleship:
        Salt of self-denial.                                    (Vs. 34-35)
    1.    A half-hearted choice.
        a)    Is worthless.

        b)    Is to be cast out.

    2.    An invitation to hear.  Each man must choose whether or not to listen.


    3.    Results:    Matthew 19:27-29
