Finding the Will of God
Ephesians 5:1-17
Key on vs. 17

Knowing and understanding Gods will through His word is spiritual wisdom.  There are many examples of God's will found in scripture, listed below are just a few.

1.    God's will is for all men to be saved.                                                                                              1 Timothy 2:3-4
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.                                                             2 Peter 3:9                                                                                                          9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

2.    God's will is for all men to be spirit filled.                                                                           Ephesians 5:18
18 And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit,

3.    God's will is for all men to be sanctified.                                                                                1 Thessalonians 4:3-4
3 For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality; 4 that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor,

4.    God's will is for all men to live in submission to authority.                                                    1 Peter 2:13-15
13 Therefore submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake, whether to the king as supreme, 14 or to governors, as to those who are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and for the praise of those who do good. 15 For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men
(Obey God rather than man.   Acts 5:29; 5:17-42)

5.    God's will is for all men to be thankful.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

6.    God's will is for all men to live a self-sacrificial life.                                                                Romans 12:1-2
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

7.    God's will can be for us to suffer for the good we do.
    (1 Peter 3:13-17, Key on vs. 17; 1 Peter 2:20)
