The Gospel is the only answer for Man's Guilt.
Romans 1:16-32
I. Paul's Boldness for Christ: He was unashamed of the Gospel. (Vs. 16-17)
1. It is the good news from God Himself. (V 16)
2. It is the power of God to save. (V 16)
A. All who believe.
B. All nationalities, both Jew and Greek.
3. It is the revelation of God's righteousness. (V 17)
A. The problem: Man's unrighteousness.
B. The answer: Faith
II. God's case against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men:
Why God shows wrath. Romans 1:18-23
1. The subject of God's wrath. (V 18)
A. Men of ungodliness and unrighteousness.
B. Men who suppress the truth.
2. Men reject that within them: Conscience and thoughts. (V19)
3. Men reject that without them: The signs of creation. (V 20)
A. God's eternal power and nature are clearly seen in creation.
B. Men are without excuse.
4. Men do not honor God nor give Him thanks. (V 21)
A. Results #1: Their imaginations became vain. (empty)
B. Results #2: Their hearts are darkened.
5. Men became prideful and turn away from God. (Vs. 22-23)
A. They imagine and create their own ideas of God.
B. They exchange the incorruptible God for corruptible idols.
III. How God shows wrath. Romans 1:24-32
1. God gave men up to do as they willed. (V 24)
2. God gave men up to uncleanness. (Vs. 24-25)
A. Reason: The lust in their hearts.
B. Result: False worship (idolatry)
3. God gave men up to vile unnatural affections. (Vs. 26-27)
A. Reason: They gave in to unnatural passion and homosexuality.
B. Result: A burning passionate bondage.
1) Women with women
2) Men with men
4. God gave men up to reprobate, depraved minds. (Vs. 28-31)
A. Reason: They rejected God.
B. Result: Depraved, unsuitable behavior.
5. God assures final judgment: Death (V 32)
Because men do and approve such things.
