"Home for Christmas"
Luke 1:1-7   (Key v. 3)

I.    Home for Christmas - because home is one of God's primary institutions.

    1)    God Himself established the home.    (Genesis 2:8; 2:24)

    2)    The home (family, marriage) is God's first institution for the welfare of the human
        race.

        We ought to major in the making of a home and keeping the family together.
    Scripture that can help:    Joshua 24:15; Proverbs 22:6; Ephesians 6:1-4;
    Ephesians 5:25;   Ephesians 5:22-24; Genesis 2:24; Psalm 127:3;
    Proverbs 14:1, 13:1, 10:1

        A reporter ask Henry Ford after 50 years of marriage "To what do you attribute
        your 50 years of successful married life?  Ford replied, "The formula is the same
        I've used in the making of cars: stick to one model!"

II.    Home for Christmas - because your loved ones are there.

    1)    Many homes are without love.  (Child abuse, spouse abuse, divorce, separated)
        are terms we hear all too often.

        Christian love makes a difference (Ephesians 5:25-33).  A true home abounds
        with love.  This means the type of love that is most difficult to give: unconditional
        love.

    2)    The home is the most difficult place to show this type of love because the home is
        where people know you best.

        It is easier to get angry at home than at work….
        It is easier to be selfish at home.
        Maybe we can say our true self comes out at home.

III.    Home for Christmas - because at home you are somebody.

    You cannot be replaced at home.  No one can take your place no matter how many times you
    marry, a child only has one father and mother and a set number of brothers and sisters.  No
    one else can take their places.

    Home is where the great are small and the small are great.

IV.    Home for Christmas - because at home you are loved.

    In a true home there is love.
        Love for each other.
        Love for all.
        Even love for one's self.

    A smart woman can keep springtime in her husband's eyes by keeping a fresh flower in
    her hair.  The husband can keep springtime in her heart by supplying the flower.

    We all long to be home for Christmas, but how much better to be in our heavenly home
    for eternity.  Are you on your way to the heavenly home?  Let's get a glimpse of that
    place.   (Hebrews 11:13-16)
