Sunday night we studied Romans 8:28-39.
Titled:    Assurance of Gods Everlasting Love.

1)    The sovereignty of Gods plan and purpose.

2)    The sufficiency of Gods provision.

3)    The safety of Gods people.

We have the assurance God will do His part, but what must we do?

Let's look at Psalm 1:1-6 for a good starting place.

Psalm 1, presents two portraits, the first three verses describe the happy man of faith.  The last three verses describe the unsuccessful man who has no faith in God and who lives a life of wickedness.

In this inspired portrait of the happy man, there is an explanation for his success.  He makes some great choices, one of which was to give the sacred scripture a prominent place in his life, day by day.

Let's focus on verse 2 and let's look at some of the ways that you can profit from the study of Gods word each day.

Set goals as you study.

I.    Study to find promises to claim.
The Bible contains many promises from God to His people.  You
can claim these promises as your very own.

II.    Study to find commands to obey.
Some commandments prohibit certain types of activity.  Behind
every No or Thou Shalt Not there is the divine desire to help us avoid
    harming ourselves and others.

III.    Study to find examples to follow.
Some Bible characters can serve as good role models for us.
Others who failed in many ways should serve as red lights along the
road of life to encourage us to stop ungodly conduct.

IV.    Study to find sin to avoid.
As we study God's word and discover there, the negative result
of sinful behavior, we can recognize sins that we need to avoid.

V.    Study to find solutions to your problems.
The study of Gods word can be compared to the listening side of
    the prayer experience.

May God bless each of you as you let the word of God have a greater place in your life.

"Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against you."
Psalm 119:11
