Seeking God in Prayer
Psalm 84:2

A challenge to pray

We face the real danger of true prayer becoming extinct in the church today.
You may argue this point and say this could never occur. We will continue to pray
for offerings, meals and the sick.  Maybe so, but are we progressing toward a
generation that will not, be able to find a man or woman who models a life of prayer.

Judges 2:10     One generation died and the next did not follow God.  In Israel's
history each generation failed to teach the next generation to love and follow God.
Yet this was at the very center of God's Law (Deuteronomy 6:4-9).  It is tempting
to leave the job of teaching the Christian faith to the church.  Yet God says that
the responsibility for this task belongs primarily to the family.  Because children
learn so much by example, the home offers the most effective place to pass on the
    faith to the next generation.

For too many people, prayer has become drudgery instead of a delight.  It has
become nonessential.  A generation of prayer-less Christians will result in a
    generation of power-less Christians.

    Let's start with a challenge:

    1.    Find your certain place.        (Luke 11:1)

    2.    Pray early.                (Mark 1:35)

3.    Pray often.                (Eph. 1:16; Col. 1:3 & 9; 1 Thess. 5:17)

When do we have time:        How many drives to work?
                            How many take a break?
                            How many have lunch?
How many wait: (Dr., school line, traffic)?
We all make time for things we enjoy and things that are important to us.

Dear Lord my desire is to model a life of prayer.  Reveal to me whatever may be
hindering my prayer life.  Do whatever it takes so my heart may say, "My soul
yearns, even faints, for the courts of the Lord, my heart and my flesh cry out
for the Living God."        Psalm 84:2

Prayer should be your first resource not your last resort.

Commit yourself to self improvement each day.
        (James 4:7-10)
