Jesus Teaches Two Foundations of Life
Genuine vs. Counterfeit
Luke 6:46-49

I.    The Foundation of true discipleship is obedience to the word of God.        (vs. 46)

II.    The true disciple:  lays a foundation.                            (Vs. 47-48)
    1)    He comes to Christ.

    2)    He hears and does the words of Christ.

    3)    He is like a builder.
        a)    He builds a house.

        b)    He digs deep.

        c)    He lays a rock foundation.

    4)    Results:        His house stands.

III.    The false disciple:  lays no foundation.                        (vs. 49)
    1)    He hears, but does not obey.

    2)    He is like a builder.
        a)    He builds a house.

        b)    He does not dig.

        c)    He lays no foundation.

    3)    Results:       A great fall.

IV.    The true disciple:  chooses building material carefully.        1 Corinthians 3:1-23
        Key vs. 10-15
    1)    In both passages of scripture:  Jesus Christ is the only true foundation.  (vs. 11)
            Luke 6:47-48

    2)    There is the possibility of laying the correct foundation but building with the
        wrong material.                                    (Vs. 12-15)

    3)    Results:    Suffer loss.                                (vs. 15)
